Night Photography

One focal length, almost always after dark. The single lens is deliberate — it stops me thinking about gear and starts me thinking about distance: how close I'm willing to stand, and what that costs. The dark handles the rest, cutting everything that isn't lit.

The light is the subject — sodium, neon, the cold wash off a convenience store. Each falls on skin and wet asphalt differently, and learning those temperatures is most of the work. I expose for the one highlight I want and let the rest go black.

Same reflex as the backend: keep the thing that matters, drop the rest.

The current set is Japan 2026 — Tokyo and the kansai backstreets.
